  • With a background in internal medicine, I have thoroughly studied epidemiology and statistics at graduate schools in both Japan and the UK. My research has resulted in contributions to fields such as renal epidemiology, lipid epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, and sleep epidemiology. Moving forward, I am committed to advancing research and education with the goal of contributing to the progress and optimization of medicine and healthcare, focusing on the utilization of medical data, including health insurance claims, electronic health records, and biobanks.

  • With the guiding principle of contributing to the promotion of health and the advancement and dissemination of appropriate social welfare, we are continuously striving each day by sharing the outcomes and latest updates of our research, education, and practical activities with educational and research institutions, government agencies, companies, organizations, facilities, and individuals.
  • We are guided by the following code of conduct: "being sincere," "maintaining physical and mental well-being through self-management," "showing compassion and kindness to others," and "contributing meaningfully to society."
  • We are conducting research with the aim of developing systems (mechanisms), tools, programs, evaluation methods, and instructional methods that are fun and full of smiles, and that encourage all residents to actively seek to gain health (vitality), rather than merely focusing on the prevention or improvement of disease or the need for nursing care (conventional medical approaches).

  • As a young physician, he became acutely aware of the need for a smooth transition to life after hospitalization and treatment, but at the same time, he entered the world of database research because he was unable to even grasp the actual situation. While studying in the U.S., he encountered health services research, which aims to improve the evaluation of the quality of access services, and established Japan's first research laboratory.

  • Originally a pediatrician, I am now involved in the treatment of genetic diseases in the Genetic Medicine Department.
I am interested in multifactorial diseases, especially allergic diseases, and am searching for genetic factors through whole genome association analysis.
Environmental factors are also important in the case of multifactorial diseases, and we are constantly searching for what environmental factors can increase or decrease the risk of disease development.

  • I am engaged in various research projects to explore care and nursing that support the development of children and their families. Some people may find it curious and ask, "I understand that children develop, but do families develop too?"Yes, families also develop from the “honeymoon period” to the “nurturing period” to the “educational period”....
I aim to develop care models, care programs, and care systems, always keeping in mind the importance of returning the results of my research to children and families who continue to develop, as well as to the healthcare and welfare professionals who support them.
In broad terms, our main research activities are 1) care for pediatric patients and their families in hospitals and wards (hereinafter referred to as “pediatric and family care”), 2) pediatric and family care in outpatient settings, and 3) pediatric and family care in the community and at home, and we are earnestly and steadily conducting research on a daily basis.
We will continue to work together with patients and their families, medical professionals, welfare workers, and members of the community, as we devote ourselves to supporting the development of children and their families who will shape the future.

  • My favorite words are “Carpe Diem” ("seize the day") in Latin. To cherish the present moment and live each day without regrets! To have a compassionate heart! These are my beliefs.
To date, we have been conducting research into the physical and cognitive functions of middle-aged and elderly people, exploring health promotion to maintain and improve physical and cognitive functions, as well as the impact of daily life habits on cognitive function.
Recently, we have devotedourselves to large-scale, long-term longitudinal cohort studies to actualize human well-being and, using the data obtained from these studies, we are exploring essential factors that enable all residents to live healthy and happy lives.
We are also actively engaged in research aimed at contributing to society by developing and disseminating sustainable and effective health promotion programs.
