Kazuhiro FUKUI
Vice Center Director
Professor, Faculty of Systems and Information Science, University of Tsukuba Director, Center for Artificial Intelligence Research, University of Tsukuba

- He is conducting research and development on both theory and application aspects of machine learning, pattern recognition, and image recognition. He was the first in the world to propose object recognition using multiple viewpoints and video sequences, which has become known in recent years as image-set-based object recognition. On the theoretical side, he is building a theoretical foundation based on subspace representation and differential subspace, aiming for precise structural analysis of high-dimensional spaces. He is a member of IEEE, SIAM, the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers of Japan, and the Information Processing Society of Japan. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.

Center for Cyber Medicine Research Center Deputy Center director

- I am interested in biophysical simulations, sensory feedback technology, cybernics, biomedical image processing, medical artificial intelligence, medical systems, and human-support information systems that seamlessly integrate cyber and physical spaces.
In 2005, I earned a Ph.D. in Informatics from Kyoto University for my research on medical virtual reality.
Since 2019, I have been leading the Life Engineering Laboratory at the University of Tsukuba and conducting research activities.
